How to apply for Aadhaar Card

To apply for Aadhaar Card is fairly simple and straightforward. Aadhaar can be obtained voluntarily by residents or passport holders of India. It is a 12-digit unique number issued by UIDAI(Unique Identification Authority of India).

Following is the procedure to apply for Aadhaar Card –

Locate Aadhaar Enrolment Center

Locate an Aadhaar enrolment center near you and it is better to take an appointment before hand. However you can proceed without an appointment as well.

Documents required to apply for Aadhar

Following documents will be required –

Identity Proof

Documents like Passport, PAN Card, Ration Card, Voter ID Card etc, can serve as proof of identity.

Proof of Address

Passport, Bank Statement, Driving License, Utility Bills, etc can serve as a proof of address.

Proof of Birth Date

Authenticate documents which contain your date of birth can be considered as a proof of date of birth for example – Birth Certificate, Passport, Govt Photo ID etc.

Application Process at Enrolment Center

After locating the enrolment center and gathering these documents, just visit the center in person, fill up the form and record your biometrics.

After completion of the above steps you will be given an acknowledgement slip with a 14 digit enrolment number to help you track status of your application or use till your Aadhaar is issued.
